Ok. My poppy obsession is over the moon. I woke up to this!! My original poppies were from seeds I gathered in 2009 from a dear woman's garden (my previous mother in law...what a gardener she was/is) in south Edmonton. When I moved I grabbed the dried poppy heads and seeds from my garden and put them in a jar and then promptly forgot about them. For nearly 4 years! When I ended up in my new location, and as one does when cleaning house, I found the jar and tossed its contents outside with a loud "GOOD LUCK!!" not thinking that anything would happen. But something DID happen. First, tiny little poppies, weaklings almost, appeared in random areas. And I collected those seeds. Then the next year a bit stronger. Etc. Etc.I have let them do their thing, tossing them hither and thither for five years..and then this year.....they decided to do their OWN thing. Nature astounds me in its beautiful twists and turns, its sudden changes and its innate instinct of growth. My dear @winstache said this looks as though the anthers mutated into petals! I'm saving the seeds of these most definitely. The story of these poppies reminds me of my life here in Alberta. How I arrived. How I grew despite the odds. And how here I am....doing my own thing.🌱

I'm obsessed with these poppies. Out of nowhere this one showed up....lavendar!

There's nothing I find more pleasing than harvesting garlic scapes. Battling off the swarms of mosquitos to get these beauties tonight was worth every itchy bite I'll have tomorrow morning.
